Ultra VGA Engine DX 3D (also known as UveDX and Looks Like 2D But Is In Fact 3D) is a game engine/API used in the first Chicken Invaders, Chicken Invaders 2, the first Island Wars, and Island Wars 2.

In 2004, a new version of UveDX, known as UveDX 8. It is currently used in Chicken Invaders 3, Chicken Invaders 4, Chicken Invaders 5, as well as the remastered version of Chicken Invaders 2 and other games created by InterAction Studios. However, this logo was removed in Chicken Invaders 3 and its subsequent games. This engine has also been ported to Mac OS X, Linux, iOS, Android, and Windows 8's Metro Apps platform.

Technical information

UveDX is a graphical API and game engine that utilizes the SVGA graphics mode. Originally, it utilizes the DirectX 6.0/6.1 runtime API. Later versions of the engine utilizes DirectX 7.0 and DirectX 8.

Although it is a 2D game engine, Interaction Studios claimed that it is a 3D game engine.

On Island Wars 2, a new version of UveDX uses DirectX 8 as a runtime backend, this is also known as UveDX 8.

Particle Flux Technology

Particle Flux Technology is a sprite-based graphics API, it is only used in first Chicken Invaders, Chicken Invaders 2 and the first Island Wars. It is used for the sprites and animations of explosions and bullets.
