Barriers are a recurring obstacles appearing in the Chicken Invaders franchise since Ultimate Omelette. They're often used to protect enemies from being damaged. They don't count in the wave progress bar, so destroying them is not required to complete a wave. After all enemies are destroyed, they poof.

Description: The LV1 Barriers are the most common type of Barriers and the first ones that are introduced.
Appearance: Their appearance is simple. They are metal discs with a diode on top of them. The diode will change color, depending on the remaining health of the barrier. Once their health is depleted to 67%, it will turn yellow, and once their health is depleted to 33%, it will turn red.
In Cluck of the Dark Side, the diode was replaced with a circle that has 16 diodes, which more accurately display the remaining health of a barrier, as individual diodes will turn off as its health gets depleted more and more. They go more smoothly from green to red. The metal disc was also made more shiny.

Description: The LV4 Barriers are only used in the Apple Core boss fight. They are the only type of Barrier which is capable of attacking on its own. In this case, they shoot red neutrons to the left.
Appearance: They are three stacked metal discs with another one at the bottom which is connected by a diode. The diode will change color, depending on the remaining health of the barrier. Once their health is depleted to 67%, it will turn yellow, and once their health is depleted to 33%, it will turn red.
They're the only Barriers that weren't redesigned in later games.

Appearance: They are metal spheres with 12 diodes placed on them. The diodes will change color, depending on the remaining health of the barrier. Once their health is depleted to 67%, they will turn yellow, and once their health is depleted to 33%, they will turn red.

Description: Barrier Bombs are a variant of Bombs added in Universe. They are used in groups of invulnerable Barriers that get destroyed together with the bomb. They also release a shockwave similar to normal Bombs upon destruction.
Appearance: A gray metallic bomb with 16 LED diodes on it, representing remaining health. The diodes start out with cyan, and become more blue as health goes down.
